Happy WillPower Wednesday and we will be focusing on Wardrobe. I heard there was a rule you can't wear white after labor day...
Why do they say no white after Labor Day?
An unwritten fashion rule followed by many for years held that white garments and shoes were only worn in the summer, which officially came to its close on Labor Day after the national holiday was established in 1894.
There is no one person or group who started this fashion rule. One reason
For one, wearing white was a way to stay cool in hot summer months. “Not only was there no air-conditioning, but people did not go around in T-shirts and halter tops. So there was good reason that in the hot months white is a standard to stay cool. So the opposite can be said for colder months. We break rules around here so i'm all for white whenever you want to wear it.
Would you wear white after Labor day? My answer would be YES. Fashion is a personal choice and self expression and shouldn't be restricted. You can still rock a nice white tee shirt under your blazer or moto jacket for the fall or a nice winter white sweater for the cozy winter nights around the fire pit at a ski resort. Also don't forget to rock your white cowboy boots for the rodeo or line dancing.
Fashion is always changing and some rules will be broken. Have fun!!
