Its time to uncross those legs and hit the local park trail and walk. Put on your sneakers, lace them up tight and hit your local park. Its as easy as a walk in the park to improve your overall quality of life. A walk in a park or woodland with lots of trees may be the healthiest thing you can do. Scents and smells have a powerful effect on our health and emotions. It seems that smells are closely tied to the emotional center in our brain. This is why certain smells and scents can arouse a sense of nostalgia or other emotions relating to our past and times we were super active as children.


You can find tons of stuff to do, hike a trail, find a playground, get on a slide act like a kid again, or even better bring your own kids. Watch the ducks swim across the lake and find that old fashioned swing, sit down and take in the beautiful view. Top it off with a healthy lunch or snack and you've got it made.


There are huge physical and mental benefits from walking, particularly on a regular basis. The recommended activity guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention includes 30 minutes a day for five days (or 150 minutes per week) of moderate exercise, and brisk walking is one of those activities. People who meet these guidelines typically enjoy protection against many diseases or better management of disease and disorders.





Women who visited natural environments had lower blood-pressure levels and heart rates. A study found people who sat in forests had lower blood-pressure, heart rates and levels of the stress hormone cortisol, compared to people in urban environments.

Easter is an important time for many. What is Easter? Easter is one of the principal holidays, or feasts, of Christianity. It marks the Resurrection of Jesus three days after his death by crucifixion. For many Easter is the joyful end to the Lenten season of fasting and penitence.


From Easter Eggs to baked goods to ball games and bunnies, here are some of the ways that many have celebrated Easter throughout history.



My favorite Easter memories are when my mother would dress us up in beautiful outfits, take us to church to say our Easter speech.

"Christ is risen on Easter day"

then if we were good we would go home to an Easter basket full of candy and she also cooked a huge dinner ham roast beef, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, rolls... a FEAST. This was my tradition she carried on with my children. I was so blessed to have my mother Elizabeth Peoples. I will have those memories for forever. Wishing everyone a blessed and happy Easter.
